Still Counting

The T-P had an item this weekend suggesting that remains discovered in the ruins of the Lower Ninth Ward last Wednesdsay night may be those of a Katrina victim. It's mind-blowing that this could still be going on, more than a year after the fact. "Coroner Frank Minyard," the story adds, "told the City Council last month that the Michoud area of eastern New Orleans had never been searched for bodies since Katrina and should be investigated as soon as possible."

Not counting these remains, 28 Katrina dead have been "found in New Orleans since March, when a federal mortuary service shut down and turned the collection of bodies over to the coroner's office."
