"Cold Cash" Jefferson...

... wins??

Yes. But that's not even weirdest part.
Guilty pleas by aides and associates who admitted to bribing the New Orleans Democrat, and the revelation in court documents that FBI agents had found $90,000 in marked bills in Jefferson's freezer, had prompted pundits to begin inking his political obituary. Instead, Jefferson, 59, scored a decisive win largely by routing [opponent Karen] Carter in Jefferson Parish.
What? Apparently, Harry Lee was really anti-Carter, and threw his (ahem) weight behind Jefferson as a result. Here's the story.

I'm not sure I would characterize any of this is as good news for New Orleans.
