Advice for Second-Line Fans

I didn't realize until recently that WWOZ has a blog going. Some oldish posts there told me some other things I didn't realize. I'd heard about some violence at second-line parades, but didn't know that this had basically led to an increase in the fees that parading organizations must pay. Here's the story.

A follow-up post is the transcript of an interview with the leaders of parading organizations. The most remarkable comment on parade safety came from Linda Porter, President of the Lady Buckjumpers Social Aid and Pleasure Club, who said: "Leave your dogs, snakes; cause people bring all kind of things!"

Well, that's a fair point. Come on people: Leave your snakes at home.
